So here it is..

I'm a Vancouver Film School student living it up in Vancouver, Canada. I am in my second year at VFS studying Digital Design. I am really interested in that beautiful little place where film and motion graphics meet! Its pretty rad.

Walden - Life in the woods

Henry David Thoreau
Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth. I sat at a table where were rich food and wine in abundance, and obsequious attendance, but sincerity and truth were not; and I went away hungry from the inhospitable board. The hospitality was as cold as the ices. I thought that there was no need of ice to freeze them. They talked to me of the age of the wine and the fame of the vintage; but I thought of an older, a newer, and purer wine, of a more glorious vintage, which they had not got, and could not buy. The style, the house and grounds and “entertainment,” pass for nothing with me. I called on the king, but he made me wait in his hall, and conducted like a man incapacitated for hospitality. There was a man in my neighborhood who lived in a hollow tree. His manners were truly regal. I should have done better had I called on him.

Peter Jackson's Video Blog

Peter Jackson is signed on and in pre-production of the hobbit and it looks exciting! Although I, like most, am sad about the loss of director Guillermo del Toro and what he would have brought to middle earth I can suck it up and accept another great look at Tolkeins world from the eyes of Peter Jackson. Peter has decided to make a video blog as the filming goes along giving us some insight and behind the scenes looks at the making of the film as its happening. The first video for the blog has come out giving us a look into hobbiton, rivendell and the goblin caves. It is going to be made into two movies (I'm not complaining but making two parts to one movie is getting tiresome.) A major difference between the filming of the hobbit and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy that was filmed 12 years ago is that they are shooting in 3D. I am not a fan of 3D and am a little bit dissapointed that they chose to do this. This also means that there is going to be a big difference in the way the effects and the the whole look of the film looks because they can no longer use simple basic effects like kneeling down for hobbits because of the way a 3D camera films. But all in all I am anticipating the release of these films (part 1 is planned to release in December 2012).
One last fun fact.. this movie is rumored to potentially be the most expensive movie ever made, expected to cost 300-500 million. Crazy!

I know I know, I am all about teh behind the scenes lately. This ones not particularily ingenius or spectacular but 1. Its potter and 2. Its so weird to see them casting spells without spells or at parties without music.

Stanley Kubricks Clockwork Orange Intro
I think I need to re evaluate this movie I dont think I was in the right mood the first time i watched it. Really, really love the way this intro was done with the camera pulling back and the stare. The music is wicked to.

After effects w/ 3D layers. It's a work in progress!

the white ribbon

A really good movie. I was annoyed at the end at first but its still a wicked watch. I thought it would be one of those boring artsy films but its actually very interesting. I should probably watch it a few more times. I like!
